Suspect in murder of New York City woman at luxury Hamptons spa and resort is found dead

A man wanted in connection to the slaying of a New York City woman at a chic Hamptons resort was found dead in Pennsylvania, police said Wednesday.

Thomas Gannon, 56, was suspected of murdering 33-year-old Sabina Rosas at Shou Sugi Ban House in Water Mill, about 90 miles east of Midtown Manhattan, Suffolk County police said.

Gannon "was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home" in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, about 200 miles from the murder scene, according to a Suffolk County Police Department statement.

It wasn't immediately clear on Wednesday morning how Gannon might have known the victim, identified as Sabina Khorramdel by her loved ones.

"It is with immense grief that we announce the tragic death of Sabina Khorramdel, our beloved daughter, sister, fiancee, and friend," according to a family statement issued early Wednesday, before police announced that the suspect was dead.

"As the eldest of three daughters, Sabina brought excitement, adventure, joy, and love to our family. She is survived by her loving mother, father, fiancee, and separated husband. We are devastated by this senseless loss and ask for privacy as we navigate this incredibly difficult time."

The victim was found by an employee in a guest room on Monday afternoon. The slaying “appears to be an isolated incident” with “no immediate danger to the public at this time,” Southampton police said in a statement.

"Your support during this challenging time is a testament to just how special Sabina was and will remain," the victim's family said.

A representative for Shou Sugi Ban House could not immediately be reached for comment on Wednesday.
