Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, head coach DeMeco Ryans said Tuesday.

Diggs, 30, suffered the injury during the Texans’ 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. He was hurt on a non-contact play.

Diggs had 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns in eight appearances before the injury.

Houston traded a second-round and fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for Diggs and a sixth-rounder in April. It was the second time in his career Diggs had been traded in the offseason, after he was moved to Buffalo from the Minnesota Vikings in 2020.

A fifth-round pick in 2015, Diggs had recorded at least 1,000 yards receiving every year since 2018. He entered this season only five yards short of 10,000 in his career, and is currently at 10,496.

In 2020, Diggs led the NFL with 127 catches for 1,535 yards.

After he was traded to the Texans in April, Diggs and the team agreed to restructure his contract, erasing the final three years and making him a free-agent after this season. The new deal reportedly paid Diggs $22.5 million in 2024.

Houston is already without receiver Nico Collins, who was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury after Week 5. The earliest Collins will be eligible to return is in Week 10.

The Texans’ next game is against the New York Jets on Thursday night. Houston is 6-2 and in first place in the AFC South, and currently second in the AFC.
