Attorneys for "Vanderpump Rules" star James Kennedy said there were no injuries in the incident that led to his arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence earlier this week.
The 32-year-old DJ and reality TV veteran was arrested Tuesday night in Burbank, in Los Angeles County, after police responded to a call at a home about an argument between him and a woman, Burbank police said.
Kennedy was booked on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge and later posted bail, police said.
A Burbank police log of the incident says he was arrested at 11:50 p.m. and that a "Female stated her boyfriend lifted her up and threw her to the ground."
Police said formal charges are pending review by the Burbank City Attorney’s office. The police log lists an arrest charge of domestic battery.
“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations levied by the Burbank Police Department against James,” Scott Leemon and Leonard Levine, attorneys for Kennedy, told NBC News on Friday. “We understand that there were no injuries and we are hoping that, after careful review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.”
Kennedy is dating Ally Lewber, who also appeared on "Vanderpump Rules." The pair appeared to have attended “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party Tuesday evening, according to social media posts.
Following his arrest, other past co-stars who were romantically involved with him spoke out.
Kristen Doute, who Kennedy dated in earlier seasons of the show from 2013 to 2015, posted TMZ's article breaking the news of his arrest on her Instagram story, and added her own caption of "Finally."
Attorneys for Kennedy’s ex-fiance, Rachel "Raquel" Leviss, said he has a history of violent behavior.
“We are aware of James Kennedy’s recent arrest for domestic violence. This news is, unfortunately, not surprising,” Mark Geragos and Bryan Freedman said in a statement to US Weekly. “Rachel’s lawsuit describes, in significant detail, Mr. Kennedy’s long history of erratic, violent behavior and substance abuse.”
Leviss is suing “Vanderpump Rules” cast members Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix accusing them of being involved in producing and distributing revenge porn against her. Season 10 revealed an explosive scandal in which Sandoval, who had been dating Madix for years, had an affair with Leviss.
